"The world is in mind"
They are extracts from the instructions of the sage Vasishtha to his disciple Prince Rama and the "History of Queen Chudala"
The work entitled Yoga-Våsishtha, also known as Maharamayana, includes thirty-two thousand verses attributed to the wise Valmiki, the first poet who expressed himself in the Sanskrit language as we still know today. In truth, Valmiki can always claim for himself the fact of being the greatest of the Sanskrit poets, and the yoga-våsishtha is penetrated from a poetry of the highest inspiration.
Swami Vidyaranya, illustrious star in the firmament of Eastern Philosophy, cites more than a hundred verses of Yoga-Våsishtha in his famous work Jivan-Mukti-Viveka, written long before Shakespeare was born.
The Yoga-Våsishtha has been the favorite book of Yogis and Hermits in its retreats from the Himalayas, as well as that of kings and state men of India. They share the opinion that whoever studies it carefully and lives their teachings rises above the limitations of the subject and, experiencing an immutable beatitude in their own being, makes part of his neighbor of his own spiritual exaltation through goodness and true philanthropy.
The traditional yogic teachings, as they are understood and practiced by the highest authorities of the spiritual science of the East, are summarized in the extracts that we have selected to make this volume.
